State Road 80 Safety Improvements
Hendry County, Florida
FPID: 447878-2
We are reevaluating this project and gathering input early
NO PREFERRED DESIGN HAS BEEN SELECTED
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One is evaluating safety improvements along SR 80 through LaBelle, from north of Captain Hendry Drive to west of Forrey Drive. The project will focus on reducing fatal and serious-injury crashes while considering local access, travel patterns, and community needs.
Project Location Map
Improving safety for everyone who drives, walks, bikes, or uses transit is the project's primary purpose.
Why Safety Improvements Are Needed
SR 80 ranks first in Hendry County in three safety categories.
Fatal and serious-injury
high-crash segment
#1
#1 Bicycle and pedestrian fatal and serious-injury location
#1 Two-way left-turn-lane high-crash roadway
verified fatal and serious-injury crashes
January 2014 through June 8, 2026
11 of these 27
crashes involved people walking or biking
between Hardee Street and Missouri Street

Utility and design constraints
Safety Solutions Being Evaluated
Improvements for all travel modes
Access and turning-movement changes
Speed-management measures
Safer pedestrian crossings
Intersection and signal improvements
Other proven safety treatments
Potential improvements will be evaluated for safety performance, community effects, engineering feasibility, and cost.
