Sangamon County Highway Department Announces CH 22 (Iron Bridge Road) Lanes Shift
The Sangamon County Highway Department announces that, while construction activities continue on County Highway 23 (Woodside Road) between Chatham Road and CH22 (Iron Bridge Road) and on County Highway 22 (Iron Bridge Road) between Woodside Road and Lake Springfield, lanes will be shifting to the temporary pavement on Iron Bridge Road for construction of the Iron Bridge Road structure and other construction activities beginning Thursday October 2, 2025. The speed limit will be reduced to 30mph throughout the shifted lanes. The shifted lanes will remain in effect until the structure is completed, estimated end of year 2026.
Motorists are asked to use extreme caution and patience while traveling on Iron Bridge Road near the work zone. Motorists may also want to find alternate routes for use during the construction activities. Questions should be directed to the Sangamon County Highway Department at 217-535-3070.
