Background:
The Kentucky State University Patent Policy 4.0 currently states that patent rights related to an invention or discovery using the resources of Kentucky State University shall be assigned to the University with the faculty, staff, or student member having an interest in the invention or discovery would share in the returns as determined by the Board of Regents. The percentage of interest to be distributed shall be determined by the Board and the President recommends the following percentages be applicable:
60% to Kentucky State University distributed at the discretion of the President 40% to be distributed to the inventor(s)
Recommendation:
Upon the recommendation of the President, Board approval is requested for the percentage distribution from invention and discovery royalties by modifying Board Policy 4.0 approved in 1996.
