Grants – USDA FS Competitive Grant Opportunity – US Forest Service is accepting applications for the Community Forest & Open Space Conservation Project.
Ron would like to apply for this Grant. He has researched a parcel of land on Jackson Mills Road.
Steve would like to use the Grant to conserve the Putnam Park (off Rte. 528) area. The Township is proposing to construct a Dog Park at the Putnam Park location, near the front of the park. Steve would like to move the Dog Park area to township owned property at the South side of the loop in the rear and keep the front park area for the planned Arboretum at the site. He would also be interested in working with the Jackson Pathfinders to create walking trails at the park.
Ron will look further into the Grant requirements and will work together with Mary to develop the plans for the park. Application deadline is January 21, 2021.
Old Business
Arbor Day 2020- Joe stated that the tree has been purchased and is waiting to be planted. Steve stated that the Business Administrator would like to improve the appearance of the outside of the Municipal Building. Steve was looking at the area in the front by the mailbox to develop a plan for landscaping. He will choose the plant material and the installer and recommend to the Administrator. Leo noted that for any landscape plants to survive, a sprinkler system would be needed.

Joe has finished the specifications and Steve will revise the pruning budget to include β€œif and when” for any additional items that may present after the bidding process has been completed. This amount will be approximately an additional $15,000 - $20,000. Notification must be given to homeowners if pruning is being done on private property.
