Jackson Township Commission for the Disabled / Handicapped Meeting of October 16, 2019 Minutes
Chairperson Donna Andreas called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm followed by a flag salute.
Present: S. Hollander, D. Andreas, D. Furbish, K. Cladek, C. Dolan Absent: K. Galano, S. Fries

Finance Report – Grant funds were transferred to the Trust Account. Grant - $0 Trust - $12,988.58 Budget - $3,138.55
Soccer - Soccer will be ending October 26. More volunteer shirts are needed. Dave Furbish stated that the buddies did a great job. 8 – 9 clients participated.
Helping Hands Program – The Program began on September 19, 2019. Alison needs additional totes for storing supplies.
Ceramics - Ceramics started on October 17, there are many new clients participating. There are approximately 20+ attending.
Basketball – The Crawford Gymnasium has been reserved, Basketball will run from the first weekend in January for eight weeks. The Commission might hold volleyball on the other side of the gym.
Miniature Golf - The event was held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 4 pm at the Manchester Family Golf Center on Rte. 37. Sharon Hollander noted that eighteen were in attendance and everyone had a very nice time.
Halloween Party – Sunday, October 27, 2019 1 – 4 pm at the Senior Center. Christine Dolan and Kristin Cladek are chairing the event. There will be pizza, soda, coffee and cake. A Magician will perform and there will be game stations. Walter the DJ will provide the music. Approximately 50 clients responded.
Donna Andreas advised that there will also be a “Trunk or Treat” prior to the party. Marilene will send out an email advising all about the “Trunk or Treat”.
Holiday Party – Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the AmVets, Rte. 571. The party will remain on December 1, 2019.
Game Night - Friday, March 30, 2019 7 – 9 pm at the Senior Center. Games, snacks & drinks. Suely has a popcorn machine that the Commission may use.
New Business
Activities for Older Clients
Donna received the following suggestions from Senior s at the Senior Center for activities they would like to see:
- An adult movie night
- Go out for dinner
- A game night (Corn Hole)
- Seniors would like to see a Bocce' Court constructed at the Senior Center
Kitay Fishing Derby This event was held on September 22, and was not very well attended.
Client Representative Donna made the suggestion to have a client representative attend the meetings. All are in favor.
SNY Sports Dave advised that a Grant is available to purchase sports equipment.
Nominations / Elections Nominations will be held at the November meeting. Elections are In January.
Correspondence A sympathy card was send to Sara's family.
