Babcock Street (State Road 507) Intersection Improvements
At Eber Boulevard/Pirate Lane
Brevard County
Financial Project Identification (FPID) Number: 451247-1
Project Description
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is planning improvements at the intersection of Babcock Street (State Road (S.R.)) 507) and Eber Boulevard/Pirate Lane in Melbourne. The purpose of this project is to enhance safety for pedestrians and motorists. Proposed improvements include reconstructing the existing traffic signals with new signal poles and upgraded signal heads.
Pedestrian safety enhancements include upgrading pedestrian signals, refreshing crosswalks to make them more visible and reconstructing pedestrian curb ramps as needed for accessibility.
FDOT will coordinate with the City of Melbourne on planned improvements to Pirate Lane. The work will be performed in conjunction with a planned resurfacing project on South Babcock Street from north of Palm Bay Road to Melbourne Avenue (FPID No.: 452864-1). For information on that project, go to www.CFLRoads.com/project/452864-1.
