TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON RESOLUTION 266-2025

RESOLUTION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON, COUNTY OF OCEAN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY, GRANTING SUPPORT FOR THE OCEAN COUNTY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT'S PROPOSED PROJECT ENTITLED "COUNTY ROUTE 539 AT JOINT BASE MAGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST" IN THE TOWNSHIPS OF PLUMSTED, MANCHESTER AND JACKSON, OCEAN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY.

WHEREAS, the Ocean County Engineering Department (“OCED”) noticed Jackson Township that OCED is seeking alternatives to improve safety and efficiency of travel on County Route 539 adjacent to Joint Base Maguire-Dix-Lakehurst (“JBMDL”); and

WHEREAS, a Public Officials meeting was held on June 10, 2024 to discuss the furtherance of these goals; and

WHEREAS, the OCED informed Jackson Township that the Preliminary Preferred Alternative selected to improve safety and efficiency of travel along County Route 539 adjacent to JBMDL is to construct a new bridge on County Route 539 over a future JBMDL internal base roadway; and

WHEREAS, Jackson Township is aware that the OCED will maintain County Route 539 vehicular traffic during construction of the project by diverting traffic to a temporary diversionary roadway constructed adjacent to the project work area; and

WHEREAS, upon discussion and review of the alternatives, Jackson Township agrees with OCED's recommendation to advance the Preliminary Preferred Alternative of a new County Route 539 bridge over a future JBMDL internal base roadway.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, this 12th day of August 2025 by the Town Council of Jackson Township that the project known as County Route 539 at Joint Base Maguire-Dix-Lakehurst as proposed by OCED is hereby affirmed by Jackson Township.
