The National Adaptation Framework (NAF) has also identified twelve sectors across seven Government Departments/Agencies for the development of Climate Adaptation Strategies. These include actions to be implemented at a Local Government level.

Again, under the National Adaptation Framework, each Local Authority is required to develop a Climate Adaptation Strategy for the period 2019-2024. The Environment Directorate of Cork County Council has been tasked with developing this Climate Adaptation Strategy for County Cork. These strategies will be used to inform development plans and other statutory plans and policies of the Local Authority in addition to mainstreaming climate adaptation into day-to-day Local Authority operations.
