===== PAGE 1 ===== ## Dear Bidder: Enclosed is a “Notice of Timber for Sale”. Refer to the aerial photo and road map to pin-point the location of the trees for sale. The trees will be sold as “lump-sum, sealed bid”. Your bid must be submitted in writing and sealed in an envelope with the words “Timber Bid” written on the envelope so that it won’t be opened early. The address to send the bid can be found on the sale notice sheet. All bids must be received prior to the bid opening time. No late bids or phone bids will be accepted. The seller reserves the right to refuse all bids. All trees were scaled using Scribner Log Scale on 3/9/2026 and 3/12/2026 by Alex Hoffman and Trent Stuchel (IDNR Foresters). All trees for sale are painted with blue paint. Walnut trees have been marked 1-122. Volume totals are an estimate only. Bidders/buyers should satisfy themselves by examination as to the quantity and quality of the timber offered. The ground must be completely frozen and firm while logging is being done. No logging operations can begin prior to September 1st, 2026. Logging operations must be finished no later than March 31st, 2027. The landing area / log deck should be free of large woody debris once operations have finished. Trees must be directionally felled to prevent damage to unmarked trees at the perimeter of the harvest area. This harvest is a clearcut harvest. There are some nice very high-quality walnut trees included in this sale. Bids are due by May 20th at 1:00 PM. Sealed bids should be dropped off at the Swiss Valley Nature Center, 13606 Swiss Valley Rd., Peosta, IA 52068. Final approval and potential acceptance of bids will take place at the May Board Meeting (May 21st at 4:00 PM), pending board approval. The successful bidder must execute a timber sale contract with the seller within 14 days of notice of award. The buyer must be bonded with the State of Iowa. The buyer is responsible for insuring that there is sufficient liability coverage maintained on all individuals involved in the logging operation. You may view the timber at any time during daylight hours up until the time of the bid opening. The buyer must be bonded with the State of Iowa. The buyer is responsible for insuring that there is sufficient liability coverage maintained on all individuals involved in the logging operation. Seller reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Bids are due no later than May 20th at 1:00 PM. Final approval and potential acceptance of bids will take place pending board approval at the May Conservation Board Meeting on May 21st at 4:00 PM. The buyer must be bonded with the State of Iowa. The buyer is responsible for insuring that there is sufficient liability coverage maintained on all individuals involved in the logging operation. Operations, including cutting, skidding, and removal of the sale trees must take place between the dates of September 1st 2026 and March 31st, 2027. The harvest must take place one frozen, firm ground to prevent damage to the field being used as a log deck. The logging deck must be completely removed of large debris once logging operations have finished. The seller requires a down payment of 25\% of the bid.
