All coolants, lubricants, and water-treatment chemicals shall be stored in approved containers with secondary containment sufficient to prevent release to soil, groundwater, or surface water. Containment practices shall comply with all applicable local, state, and federal requirements, including applicable IDNR or EPA requirements, manufacturer specifications, permit conditions, and applicable fire, electrical, or industry standards. [Revised from 5/18/2026 draft]
Any discharge or disposal of cooling water, including water containing additives or treatment chemicals, shall comply with all applicable IDNR, federal, and other legal requirements. Nothing in this subsection shall be interpreted to authorize discharge otherwise regulated by IDNR or other agencies having jurisdiction.
