Subject: No Data Centers
Hello,
Please take time to read my information on data centers. I have included my sources. My intention is to give solid facts on why data centers aren't what we want or need! This project will affect all Dubuque residents, regardless of their proximity to the proposed site.
The minimal benefits of hosting a data center in Dubuque do not outweigh the significant risks to our water supply, electrical grid, public health, productive farmland and environment. Negatives are being seen and felt in communities that already have data centers. The biggest thing I am concerned about if the health impacts a data center will have on the people.
According to (Sightline Climate), nearly half of the data centers planned for 2026 have already been delayed or canceled. These data centers are drawing increasing scrutiny.
Rather than rushing into this, we should observe and learn from their experiences first. Technology changes constantly, down the road hopefully they will use less and fewer resources. Experts are saying these centers are not environment friendly today.
