# A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
##### “Come grow with us...in KSU's different world!”
James Allen, writing in As a Man Thinketh (1922), said it best; an expression of KSU's mission: "People hold within themselves the key to every situation they face...[they] contain within themselves that transforming and regenerative agency by which they make of themselves what they will."
If it is your will – as a prospective student – to have Kentucky State University be the conduit through which you will either change and/or rejuvenate yourself, then it simply delights me to imagine you browsing through this stockpile of information about our esteemed institution of higher education, one that is a marvel both of tradition and change.
I am extremely fortunate – as a Kentuckyian -- to welcome you to this window to the unique world of KSU. My sincere hope is that you will peer through this paper portal and examine carefully the rich opportunities in what we call the “different world of KSU.” Then, after you choose KSU -- as our honorable saying broadcasts to our students – come on in, “Enter to Learn, Go out to Serve.”
KSU, the Commonwealth's most unique liberal arts public college, offers an extensive variety of professional degree programs at the associates, bachelors, and masters levels. KSU's Program of Distinction – Aquaculture – is housed in its 1890 Land Grant program, the taproot of its status as a historically black college (HBCU). KSU may well be the nation's most multi-ethnic campus: our student body, faculty and staff represents people from all walks of life, from scores of points around the globe.
As a KSU student, you will be treated in the manner that gardeners cultivate plots, leading them towards fulfillment. Your needs and desires will be tended to – almost solicitously. When you leave KSU, you will have discovered that you are the master gardener of your soul, the director of your life, and the shaper of your own personality, condition and future.
As an educational institution, KSU prides itself for providing the human and organizational resources to help students make of themselves what they will. Come on in. Come to KSU: join the long chain of successful women and men who've embraced her honored traditions and benefitted from her resolve to always be on the cutting edge of change.

## ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is offered in participating high schools across the country. High school students should consult with their guidance counselor or principal regarding the availability of AP courses in their school, how to register for them, and AP testing schedules and fees.
Currently, Kentucky State University awards semester credit hours for 15 of the AP examinations. (Some examinations provide credit for two courses.) Code 1368 should be used by the examinee to have the University designated as an AP examination score recipient.
Following are the University courses for which Advanced Placement Program credit is given, plus the appropriate AP examination for each and the minimum score required to receive University credit:
