We continue to bring partners together to shape investable opportunities and mobilise international capital to deliver sustainable, long-term growth for Scotland. This year, Scottish Enterprise supported just under 12,500 planned Real Living Wage jobs and over £1 billion of planned capital investment, sustaining strong performance in a more demanding environment. We are focusing on where we can make the biggest difference - accelerating near-term opportunities such as grid infrastructure, while applying advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, across sectors such as life sciences, space and financial services. At the same time, we are strengthening the pipeline of longer-term opportunities to ensure Scotland remains competitive as conditions evolve.
Our impact is evident. In Glasgow, Hitachi Energy is creating high-value engineering roles to strengthen the UK grid. In Grangemouth, our partnership with Celtic Renewables is supporting large-scale production of sustainable chemicals and enabling a just transition.
Our mission-led approach allows us to target and prioritise where Scotland can compete and deliver most strongly for the economy:
The energy transition remains central to Scotland's future. We have supported investment across renewables, supply chains and low-carbon technologies, while recognising the challenges.
We narrowly missed our jobs target this year, reflecting wider market conditions where investment decisions are taking longer than anticipated. In response, we are putting more focus to the critical enablers of long-term growth - grid infrastructure, the future of key industrial sites such as Grangemouth, and continued diversification of the energy sector. The scale and timing of offshore wind deployment will be critical. Our priority is to ensure Scotland is positioned to capture that opportunity.
We continue to strengthen Scotland's pipeline of high-growth businesses, supporting over 200 scale-up-ready companies to innovate and expand internationally. Through targeted investment, tailored account management and access to global networks, we are helping these companies compete and win globally. We are also becoming more targeted in how we build international partnerships. In North America, fintech gateway partnerships are supporting market entry and attracting investment, while in Singapore we are building collaboration across renewables, healthcare and advanced technologies.
Recent investment cooperation with the UAE is creating direct routes for Scottish companies to connect with investors, develop joint ventures and access new trade opportunities, supported by structured engagement through initiatives such as Investopia.
