Strengthening innovation ecosystems through a more joined up approach with partners, including place-based cluster opportunities and targeted industry cluster development. Worked with the Scottish Government to progress cluster strengthening across Life Sciences, Industrial Biotechnology, Space, Fintech and Critical Technologies (Photonics, Quantum and Semiconductors).
Quantcore, a University of Glasgow spin-out, secured £2.5m in seed funding, co-led by PXN Ventures, Blackfinch Ventures and Scottish Enterprise, to establish a UK-based supply chain for quantum hardware critical to national security and competitiveness. The company is the UK's only manufacturer of niobium-based quantum components, enabling more energy-efficient, scalable quantum systems. The investment will support a pipeline of high value jobs in Glasgow and accelerate applications across computing, secure communications and advanced medical imaging.
