Chemveda established its first European base at the University of Dundee's Life Sciences Innovation Hub, supported by a £270,000 Scottish Enterprise grant. The investment is expected to create up to 50 high-value jobs and strengthen pharmaceutical and biotech innovation. It builds on Scottish Enterprise's £8m contribution to the Hub, which provides high-quality lab space to attract global companies, support spinouts and reinforce Dundee's position as a globally connected life sciences cluster.
Piloting a partnership with Deeptech Labs to strengthen spinouts' go-to-market strategies, provide deep tech market expertise and investor exposure, and support preparation for significant growth funding. The results will inform our venture builder approach which we will develop and test in the year ahead.
Targeted interventions are strengthening support for scale-up companies in future industries. This included the launch of a Deep-Tech Manufacturing pilot, supporting early-stage manufacturers with global market ambition to anchor and scale their manufacturing activity in Scotland, alongside the International Market Booster programme, established to help scaling companies capitalise on opportunities in Silicon Valley.
Deepening strategic partnerships with Converge and Innovate UK's ICURe programme to establish a clear end-to-end pathway from research to commercialisation, accelerating the translation of high-potential ideas into investable opportunities, while progressing the most promising concepts from early validation through to company formation via Scottish Enterprise's High Growth Spinout Programme and a planned national Venture Building approach, and providing structured, market-led support to rapidly build, scale and de-risk new ventures, attract experienced founders, and crowd in private investment to Scotland's most promising early-stage companies.

This is strengthening Scotland's manufacturing proposition and positioning Grangemouth as a hub for green jobs.
