Scottish Enterprise worked with Thistle Wind Partners and DEME Offshore to deliver a three-month supply chain programme for the Bowdun and Ayre ScotWind projects, engaging 200+ Scottish companies. Six businesses achieved preferred supplier status and a further 14 received targeted support to strengthen capability, quality standards and investment readiness.
Launching the Offshore Wind Demand Driven Innovation Support Programme to accelerate the transition of Scottish companies from concept to market by enabling them to validate commercial potential, secure early customers and progress to scale in both UK and international markets. The programme connects Scotland's energy innovation pipeline directly to offshore wind opportunities, unlocking routes to market, securing international contracts and strengthening Scotland's position as a globally competitive offshore wind technology hub. To date, twenty two Scottish companies have secured over £1m in feasibility funding, supporting the development of new technologies, products and services that enhance supply chain capability, improve competitiveness and increase their ability to capture a greater share of Scotland's offshore wind opportunity.
Accelerating the development of market-ready offshore wind infrastructure, with port and wet storage projects advancing through design and consenting — enabling faster deployment and increasing capacity for Scottish companies to participate in major projects. Backed by the Scottish Government's £500m Offshore Wind Investment Programme, we are working with Aberdeen, Hunterston, Montrose and Peterhead to expand capacity for testing, marshalling and deployment — unlocking supply-chain opportunities, strengthening project pipelines and improving Scotland's competitiveness for global investment. At Montrose, a £1.7m Scottish Enterprise investment in studies and investigation works is expected to unlock around £115m of further port investment — crowding in significant private capital and creating new commercial opportunities for Scottish firms across the offshore wind value chain.
