One of the penalties for academic dishonesty listed in the Student Handbook is removal from the course. I would like MS to be removed from ENG 101-13.

On Thursday, October 15, 2015, Dr. Stokes met with Dr. Shaw, Dr. Wheeler, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lynda Brown-Wright, and President Burse. Dr. Stokes recorded the meeting (as well as a brief period before the meeting) and made a transcript of the recording for the evidence at the hearing. After she entered the meeting room, Dr. Stokes did not announce to the participants that she was recording the meeting. See HE 16.
Even before the meeting started, Dr. Stokes was recorded speculating that the meeting might be about her ability to control her class. She said, “if I don’t have the power to take some people who . . . won’t be quiet . . . and just say, ‘look, don’t come back,’ I’m not going to be able to control a class.” HE 16, page 2.
Before Dr. Burse arrived at the meeting, Dr. Stokes demanded to know “what’s been done to keep my students safe in class when we come back to class . . . because I just got an email that . . . MS’s expulsion . . . was a suspension . . . [and] it hasn’t been explained to me . . what’s been going on.” HE 16, page 4.
After Dr. Burse arrived at the meeting, he explained that MS had been “assessed by a professional whether he is a threat.” HE 16, page 25. Dr. Burse also said he met with the student and his father. President Burse also told Dr. Stokes that the university required that MS meet with her and “explain what he was doing was completely out of line”; that MS attend “weekly counseling sessions to make certain that he is back on track”; and that MS meet with Assistant Vice President Cribbs “on a regular basis to make certain that he is back on track.” HE
