Dear President Brown:

As Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Kentucky State University, it is indeed an honor and a privilege to submit this letter recommending Dr. Roosevelt Shelton for the title of Professor Emeritus upon his retiring with over thirty years of service to Kentucky State University.

During his tenure at Kentucky State University, Dr. Roosevelt Shelton, Distinguished Professor has served diligently as the Chairperson of the Division of Fine Arts, Director of the University Bands and as the Vice President of Enrollment Management.

In full accordance with the Kentucky State University policy (2.1.3.1 Emeritus Faculty Tenured faculty who retire from Kentucky State University after a minimum of fifteen continuous years of service may be granted emeritus status upon a recommendation from a majority vote of faculty in the applicant's department, from the chair, from the dean, from the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs, from the President of the University, with final approval by the Board of Regents).

On granting professor emeritus status upon a retiring professor/administrator, the unit faculty unanimously voted in support of granting this esteem honor to Dr. Roosevelt Shelton. I wholeheartedly support this recommendation as well.
