Administration: I lead and coordinate teaching, research and extension efforts in the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources for seventeen faculty members; b) Research: My research focuses on conservation biological control using native perennial plants and synthetic insect attractants (e.g., methyl salicylate) to increase biodiversity of insect predators and parasitoids (i.e., natural enemies) to manage pest insects in vegetable and fruit crops. Specifically we are attracting several species of lady beetles, lacewings, big eyed bugs, minute pirate bugs, ground beetles and other predators and parasitoids of sweet corn and blackberry pests to these crops. Much of my research is conducted at the KSU Agricultural Research and Demonstration Farm and at grower cooperator farms. However, we also evaluate/develop sustainable methods of sweet corn and blackberry pests to these crops.
