- Supported the Laboratory Sections of the following courses:
- BIO408: Cell Biology
- BIO495: Special Topics in Biology - Molecular Techniques for Environmental and Aquatic Studies
- Served as Instructor/Mentor of the following programs:
- Pathways and Access to Careers in Technology (PACT) Summer Program;
- Research and Extension Apprenticeship Program (REAP);
- AgDiscovery Summer Program.
- Implemented multiple workshops about modern biology, including biotechnology; molecular biology; agriculture; environmental science; and microbiology, for K-12 students and teachers.
Research Activities:
- Conducted research and supervised students' (including undergraduate and high-school students) research. The main research projects included:
- Analyzed genetic variation in the germplasm collection of Asimina triloba (pawpaw) with Simple Sequence Repeat and Inter Simple Sequence Repeat markers. Preserved valuable wild varieties of pawpaw.
- Analyzed genetic diversity of invasive species *Lonicera maackii* to understand its invasion mechanism and prioritize areas for management of invading plants.
- Preserved endangered species Rhapidophyllum hystrix (needle palm) by increasing germinating rate and setting up in vitro regeneration system.
- Participated in the implementation of molecular methods to detect fungal parasites. Nosema ceranae and Nosema apis in honey bee in the early stage of infection.
- Published research results in refereed journals, abstracts, reports, and other publications and media outlets. Supervised students' reports, presentations, and publications.
- Solicited cooperation, partnership, and extramural funding to enhance the program.
Extension and University/Society Activities:
- Served on KSU Institutional Review Board (2010 ~ 2011).
- Participated in student-recruiting activities. Gave seminars to undergraduate and high-school students about career paths and opportunities in biological science.
- Presented progress of teaching/research projects at professional societies, and organized students to participate and present at scientific meetings/events. The students have won awards/grants for their research projects.
- Participated in university's extension events (eg. "Third-Thursday" Event).
2000-2006 Teaching/Research Assistant, Department of Botany, Miami University, OH
- Taught undergraduate level course (BOT191: General Botany). Major duties included:
- ➢ Designed lab syllabus and handouts.
