Approval of the appointment of Dr. Burnette as Interim Executive VP, Finance & Business Affairs and Chief of Staff.
Kentucky State University opted to not renew its contract with the former VP for Finance and Administration and CEO, Dr. Gerald Shields. Therefore, the University needs to appoint a new head for the Finance Department. Dr. Daarel Burnette possesses extensive experience working in higher education finance and will provide vital leadership to the Department.
Given the importance of the Finance Department, the University has decided that the Department should have two Vice Presidents—one Executive VP and one Associate VP. This change will enable leadership to more efficiently and effectively address the numerous needs and issues of the Department.
The Kentucky State University Budget Office has approved the combined position for Dr. Burnette, as well as a salary of $225,000 and a monthly housing allowance of $2,300.
Interim President Ronald A. Johnson recommends that the Board of Regents approves the appointment of Dr. Burnette to the combined position.
