Academic Probation: The status assigned to a student who was on academic warning and failed to raise their cumulative GPA to the required 2.00 minimum. A student on probation who earns a semester GPA of at least 2.00 will remain on academic probation until their cumulative GPA reaches 2.00.
Academic Suspension: The required withdrawal from KSU for a specified period due to a student's failure to meet the academic standards required while on academic probation.

Academic Dismissal: The removal of a student from the university for at least one year following repeated failures to meet academic standards after suspension.
Cumulative GPA: The overall grade point average calculated from all coursework attempted at KSU.
Semester GPA: The grade point average earned in a single academic semester.

Students will be notified of suspension via their KSU university email account.
Suspended students must remain out of the University for the following semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer). To return after suspension, students must complete the KYSU Online Application for Readmission after Suspension form.
Students must earn a grade of C or better in any courses numbered below the 100 level. These grade requirements must be met within three attempts (the initial enrollment plus two repeats). If these criteria are not met, the student will be suspended from the University.
Under-prepared students must show proficiency in their academic deficiency areas by the time they have completed 45 semester credit hours. Students who fail to meet this requirement will be suspended.
General Education and Liberal Studies Requirements: Students must achieve a grade of C or better in ENG 101 and ENG 102. A grade of D or better is required in all other Liberal Studies courses. All grades for these courses must be obtained within three attempts, or the student will be suspended.
Upon reinstatement, students must earn a minimum semester GPA of 2.0, with the goal of reaching a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher to regain “good academic standing.”
