Q14: Indicate the top five recreational activities you would be most likely to participate in at the parks.
Overall responses indicated a strong preference for physical and outdoor activities among the survey participants. The most popular activity, hiking, appeared in just over 50% of the total responses. This is followed closely by trail running / walking (47%). Fitness / working out and dog walking also garnered significant interest (39% and 33% respectively). Other activities such as outdoor playgrounds, swimming, and bicycling also received notable attention, each appearing in more than 25% of the total responses.
By age group, hiking and trail running / walking remain the most common activity across all segments. Whereas 25-to-34- and 35- to 44-year-old respondents skew higher for outdoor playgrounds and swimming, the groups 45 years and above report more affinity for dog walking and fitness.
Not surprisingly, when analyzing the results by household size, activities like hiking, bicycling, and trail running/walking were popular among both cohorts, while fitness/working out and nature watching are more favored by households without children, and outdoor playgrounds and swimming are preferred by households with children.
