The majority of Millcreek Township's parks are not connected by sidewalks to neighborhoods. The NRPA calls for safe and accessible routes to be in close proximity to where residents live, ideally no longer than a half of a mile (within a 10-minute walk) from where people reside. An analysis of Millcreek Township was conducted on roadways in order to measure community access via walkability to parks and amenities. The mapping below highlights the results of this analysis, and measures walkability by time in 5, 10, and 15 minute increments. From darkest to lightest – closest to furthest - the navigable distance is shown on the map from the point of the park extending outward, via public roadways, until the maximum walkable distance in 15 minutes is reached. As such, a total of 39.6% of Millcreek Township is walkable within 15 minutes to a park.
