Bicycle Parking
Millcreek should provide convenient places to park and securely store bicycles in order to encourage the use of bicycles as an alternative to motor vehicle transportation.
Bicycle parking shall be provided at 10% of the motorized vehicle requirements but not less than 1 bicycle space and not more than 15 for any nonresidential use.
The following objectives should also apply to bicycle parking. Bicycle parking should be:
Considered as part of a new development;
Located and designated in a safe and convenient location;
Adequately separated from motor vehicle parking;
Visible from the building's main entrance;
Designed so bicyclists can securely lock their bicycles; and
Protected from the weather when practical.
Pursue a Strategic Long-Term Approach to Access Management
As development and redevelopment occur in the District, the Township should ensure that new development and redevelopment sites adhere to principles of access management.
These principles include, but are not limited to:
Minimizing the number of access points;
Developing cross-access roads and lanes to adjacent sites;
Providing minimum corner clearances from existing intersections;
Ensuring adequate driveway spacing; and
Requiring adequate pedestrian facilities.
A strategic long-term approach to access management should be further considered during future updates to the Township's comprehensive plan and zoning code.
