Figure 21: Gateway Locations

The red gateway symbols on the map represent locations that should utilize the half-arch design. This design is intended for larger intersections and wide roadways with numerous travel lanes. A full arch in these locations would be massive, expressive, and would likely feel uncomfortable.

The green gateway symbols on the map represent locations that should utilize the full arch design. These are intended for use along W 8th Street where the street is narrower than that of Peninsula Drive and W 12th Street. Complete arches along W 8th Street will contribute to a sense of identity and make a statement as Millcreek's 'Main Street'.

The yellow gateway symbol on the map is intended to represent a feature in a future roundabout at the intersection of W 6th Street and Peninsula Drive. This feature should have a unique design and function as public art, while still tying into the truss concept.

The pole design is appropriate along pedestrian and bicyclist-focused corridors, particularly W 6th Street and W 8th Street. These signs should mimic the truss design apparent in the arch.

Medallions - to be used in pavement and on poles.
