young ladies and gentleman that are chosen as student-athletes to represent the university are tremendously high. Thorobreds take pride in their appearance because they are women and men of character and they understand the importance of a positive image.

The following items are prohibited in campus areas outside of the student-athletes' assigned room:

• Inappropriate head gear (including but not limited to doo rags, wave caps, sleeping scarves, bandanas, etc.) If there is a question in your mind about what defines head gear, don't wear it or ask the appropriate staff member for clarification.
• Visible undergarments (including but not limited to briefs, boxer shorts, and undershirts [wife beaters] without a covering shirt, no tank tops under shirts, etc.) This applies to dress in the weight room(s) and gymnasium.
• Visible private/personal areas on the body (including but not limited to breast, buttocks, etc.) Use sound judgment on midsection area. Your entire midsection should not be exposed, regardless of the weather.
• Excessively short, tight or over sized clothing including but not limited to shorts, pants, "daisy dukes", "mini skirts", dresses, shirts, blouses, halter tops, skorts, etc.
• House clothing including but not limited to pajamas, slippers, bathrobes, etc.
• Shirts that have explicit curse words, or drug paraphernalia on it or profane signs. Example: shooting a bird, showing personal areas of the body, sexuality comments or any type of shirt stating/showing nasty gestures.

Tattoo Policy

Once a student enrolls and joins a KSU athletic or cheer team there cannot be any additional visible tattoos added. Anyone who adds one is to be immediately dismissed from the team and will forfeit all scholarship assistance at the end of that term.

Policy on Alcohol and Drug Abuse

The purpose of Kentucky State University is to provide a quality liberal arts education for all students. Inherent in this purpose is an environment conducive to the learning experience. Such an environment will include faculty who are well educated and capable of imparting and sharing the experience of learning, and staff supportive of the entire educational process of these students.

The use of alcohol and/or the use of other mind altering substances are antithetical to the process of education. Mind altering substances endanger physical, mental and emotional health of the user, placing the user at risk for failure in this or any other educational setting. Therefore, the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of a controlled substance is prohibited at Kentucky State University. In accordance with the Standards Governing Student Conduct articulated in the Student Handbook, possession, use, or distribution of narcotic or illegal drugs or drug performance by students on University-owned or -controlled property, except as expressly permitted by law, is unacceptable.
