Student revenues and accounts receivable are critical to cash flow and require continuous follow-up and attention. Responsibilities should be clearly assigned for invoicing, collecting, and accounting for accounts receivable.
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) require the University to make every effort to collect receivable balances, to evaluate and write off receivables determined to be uncollectible, and to estimate and record receivable amounts that will become uncollectible in the future.
Students at Kentucky State University are accountable for settling all charges incurred by the specified payment deadlines. This policy aims to outline the precise course of action to address unresolved student account balances. It is imperative for every student to comprehend these charges and fulfill their financial responsibilities punctually.
While we understand that many students receive financial assistance from external sources, including federal financial aid, it is essential to emphasize that the ultimate financial liability rests with the student.
Upon Registration students are obligated to clear their account balances completely by the designated semester due dates, irrespective of whether they have received a statement notification. Students must sign a Statement of Student Financial Responsibility at the start of each semester. Students who do not meet the financial aid requirements or who are unable to pay their entire balance by the published deadlines must establish a payment plan.
To avoid the potential consequences of registration termination, including financial holds, removal from the residence hall, and/or ID card restriction, students should adhere to the payment due date.
Students with balances of $500 or less after receiving financial aid, a scholarship, or a partial payment will not be removed from their courses. These students remain responsible for the outstanding balance, regardless of attendance, and a hold will be placed until the balance is settled in full.
If students believe there are errors with their bills, or if they require additional information about transactions listed on their bills, they must contact the Bursar's Office within sixty (60) days of their bills' dates of issuance.
Kentucky State University offers payment plan alternatives through CashNet, involving a one-time $35 processing fee per semester and no interest.
