The University maintains compliance with federal and state statutes, regulations, and requirements in the application and administration of grants to support activities related to the mission.
The grants cycle encompasses responsibilities among various departments including the Office of
Sponsored Programs, university departments, as well as finance and administration. The purpose
of the policy is to outline the roles, responsibilities, and communications between these
departments to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, accuracy, and accountability in our financial
reporting to grantors.
The grants management process is ongoing at the University throughout the fiscal year. Although these business procedures do not include steps for grant submission, which is managed by the Office of Sponsored Programs, finance and administration should work with the Office of Sponsored Programs and grantees in the proposal and submission to address budgetary considerations such as total costs, matching requirements, indirect cost rates, fringe benefit rates, etc.
Grant Submission
This process is managed by the Office of Sponsored Programs rather than by Finance and Administration; however, coordination of effort is critical in ensuring post-award compliance for grants.
