New ORG codes are required when new reporting units are added or it becomes advantageous to segment portions of an existing reporting unit, e.g. splitting Information Technology into Academic Technology and Administrative or Infrastructure Technology.
Significant activities within a department may have unique ORG codes that roll up to a departmental manager or chair.
Non-data-enterable roll up level orgs should be utilized to streamline approval queues and reporting at the roll up level.
