1. The One Stockport Health and Care Plan7 sets out the ways in which we will develop the borough's health and social care system. The strategy is informed by our local Joint Strategic Needs Assessment which comprehensively maps health and care needs in the borough and identifies trends in health and wellbeing.
  2. The One Stockport Active Communities Strategy (2022-2030)8 aims to support Stockport residents to become more active and to enjoy the health, social and environmental benefits of being more active. The strategy aims to create the conditions for people in Stockport to move more and build being physically active into their daily lives, ensuring Stockport is an even healthier and happier place to live, work and play.

COM 2: Community and social infrastructure

  1. Development proposals for new or existing community and social infrastructure will be supported where it can be demonstrated that the proposal:
  2. is in an accessible location, served by a choice of sustainable travel options and does not create severe highway impacts;
  3. Is of a high-quality design providing flexibility for different future uses; and
  4. makes efficient use of land, and does not result in adverse amenity, noise or air quality impacts
  5. Development proposals for community and social infrastructure must be designed in such a way to maximise shared use of the facility, particularly for recreational and community uses.
  6. Major residential developments must demonstrate that they can be adequately served by sufficient community and social infrastructure. Where shortfalls are identified developers will be required to make appropriate provision for new facilities. This could be on site or by making a suitable contribution towards off site new, improved and/or expanded community and social infrastructure.
  7. Proposals that would result in the net loss of community facilities will only be permitted where:
  8. adequate alternative provision exists which meets similar local needs, or where, prior to commencement of development, adequate replacement provision is made available in a suitably accessible location for the community it serves; or
