Option 6 candidates do not engage in a final clinical experience (e.g., student teaching), as do candidates in traditional routes to certification. From the time they are admitted to an Option 6 Educator Preparation Program, these teachers have an individualized mentoring plan that outlines their goals and the support (at least 15 hours/year) they will receive by an on-site mentor teacher and a university-based educator.
