THE MATH EDUCATION MAJOR

The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics Education, grades 8-12 candidate will enroll as a mathematics major in the secondary teaching certification option. This is a B.A. degree in mathematics, which combines the University's commitment to a liberal arts education. This curriculum seeks to provide a breadth of skills, competencies, and experiences without sacrificing depth of understanding. There is an extreme shortage of math and science majors. The program prepares candidates who are able to think critically, integrate mathematics throughout the curriculum, demonstrate best practices and improve student learning outcomes.

The School of Education

The Educator Preparation Program is designed to prepare teachers to pursue positions in P-12 schools. There are 10 teaching areas in the Educator Preparation Program from which to choose.
