Regent Charles Whitehead called the meeting of the Kentucky State University Board of Regents External Relations and Development Committee to order at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011. Mr. William Wilson, Associate Vice President for Development and Major Gifts, called roll in the absence of Mr. Hinfred McDuffie, Vice President for Administration, External Relations and Development:
Regent Ron Banks, present Regent Laura Douglas, present Regent David Guarnieri, absent Regent Wilbert James, absent Regent Charles Whitehead, Committee Chair, present Regent Phyllis Williams, present
Four of the six regents on the committee were present. A quorum was established.
Motion to approve the October 22, 2010, External Relations and Development Committee minutes as distributed was made by Regent Douglas and seconded by Regent Williams. The motion passed.
Mr. Wilson presented the Executive Summary Report.
Mr. Jack McNear, Associate Vice President for Capital Planning, Construction and Facilities Operations, presented cost estimates for the construction of a new elevator in alumni stadium, as requested by Regent Whitehead at the October 22, 2011, meeting. Mr. McNear said that bids had not been obtained for this job since 2000. He estimated the cost at approximately $525,000 based on current trends. Regent Whitehead expressed that there is a need for a plan to complete the project.
Mr. Wilson reiterated that Kentucky State University is celebrating its 125th anniversary, and the university will kick off a $12.5 million capital campaign at Homecoming 2011 as part of the celebration.
