The Office of Regional Stewardship and Civic Engagement hosted over eight hundred (800) middle and high school students from the Franklin County Public School District on March 11-12, 2013, in a college/career advising event called Operation Preparation held at the Carl Hill Student Center. Operation Preparation is a joint effort of the Kentucky Department of Education and the Department of Workforce Development and it provides a powerful opportunity for schools, students, parents and communities to collaborate in the process of effective advising and focuses attention on the importance of planning for college and/or career.
Over one hundred twenty-two volunteers from our KSU family and the Frankfort community met with these 8th and 10th grade students to discuss:

This type of meeting provided both information and inspiration for the student to achieve college/career-readiness. In addition to the thirty (30) minute one-on-one advising opportunity, students also participated in break-out sessions led by the Upward Bound Office, Ms. Gae Broadwater, Kentucky Higher Education Authority, Blue Grass Community and Technical College and the Kentucky National Guard. Topics for these sessions included
