We look forward to working with you to find an equitable and efficient way to address the concerns that led to the proposed credit policy changes in a way that moves the national education agenda forward while continuing to ensure the robust participation of our institutions and those we serve. Denying college access to thousands of qualified students because of a seemingly overly subjective snapshot of their parents' credit history during the worst economic recession since the Great Depression simply is not the way.
We will follow up with your office on Monday, October 15, to ascertain your willingness to proceed as requested and to ascertain the process for so doing.
On behalf of two- and four-year, private, public and land-grant HBCUs across the country, we thank you kindly for your direct involvement in this matter and for your willingness to consider a fair, equitable and expedited avenue for redress.
Sincerely,
