- Telephone calls were made to students to get appropriate paperwork from students to complete their graduation requirements.
The employment of these strategies during the 2014-15 academic year resulted in the graduation of an additional 10 students by the cohort deadline which is the end of the summer session 2015. There are currently an additional four students enrolled in summer classes who will not complete those courses until July 24, 2015. The final grades are due July 27, 2015. Grades for these students will determine successful completion of their work and ability to graduate by July 28, 2015. The 2009 Cohort graduation rate will then be complete and final. Pending completion of the four students enrolled in summer school 2015, the projected graduation rate will be 20.8.
The anticipated graduation rate is approximately 5% lower than reported during the May 2015 Board of Regents meeting. The decrease is attributed to those student who were not able to matriculate because of larger balances. Some students with balances were granted assistance by the University. There were at least five students who were not successful in their required classes during the Spring 2015 semester and have to repeat failed courses in addition to completing other requirements needed for graduation.
Additional strategies to increasing the projected completion rates for 2010 graduation Cohort are also underway and listed later in this report. There were 477 first-time, full-time students in the 2010 Cohort. As of May 15, 2015, the 2010 Cohort graduation rate stands at 9.44% with 49 of the 477 students having graduated. The end of summer school 2016 will mark the deadline for students in the 2010 Cohort to graduate. There are 127 actively enrolled students in the 2010 Cohort. An analysis of the data shows that 73 of these students have less than 40 credit hours left to complete their programs. At an enrollment rate of 15-18 credit hours per semester and additional summer enrollment of 4-10 credit hours during the summer 2015 or 2016, these students could complete their work. There are 14 students in the 2015 cohort who are currently enrolled in summer school 2015. With guidance (advisement, calling, mentoring) from the Director of Academic and Financial Success, these students could possibly complete their programs of 120 credit hours by the end of the Cohort period of July 2016.
Of the 490 students minus the 26 students that did not enroll, resulted in 464 students in the 2011 Cohort. The current graduation rate for this Cohort group is 5.10%. Twenty-five students have already graduated as of May 15, 2015. The end of summer school 2017 will mark the deadline for students in the 2011 Cohort. There are 136 actively enrolled students in the 2011 Cohort. An analysis of the data shows that 111 of these students have less than 60 credit hours left to complete their programs. At an enrollment rate of 15 credit hours per semester excluding summer enrollment, these students could complete their programs of 120 credit hours by the end of the cohort period of May 2017.
The team has employed the following strategies for the 2010 and 2011 Cohorts.
