A collaborative effort between Academic Affairs (the Center for Academic Persistence Services and faculty chairpersons), the Office of Student Affairs, and the Director of Academic and Financial Success is on-going. Strategies used to boost 2009 Cohort students to graduation were as follows:

  • An analysis of the financial status of students to determine eligibility to return.
  • An analysis of the hours completed for each student and assessment of those with 100 hours or more to determine their qualification for the Liberal Studies degree. We also evaluated the students' transcripts to determine the quickest time to both their chosen degree and the Liberal Studies degree with a concentration in their area of choice.
  • A waiver of matriculation policy requiring that students returning to the institution for a second degree complete at least 30 credit hours was offered to those who could finish with the Liberal Studies degree. (Letters to students with copies to Academic Affairs files).
  • Close advisement and follow-up calls were made to each student enrolled for the summer to check their progress.
