Re: Promotion evaluation for Mrs. Tamara Sluss PhD, Associate Professor of Biology.
Dear Dr. Bigdeli:
I am writing this recommendation with regard to Dr. Tamara Sluss's application for Promotion. My comments are based on the information I gathered earlier from her Portfolio kept in the office of the MASC. I have known Dr. Sluss as a Biology colleague after she joined the MASC as an Assistant Professor of Biology in 2005.
Dr. Sluss got this tenure track position in 2005 and defended her PhD thesis in the same year. Prior to obtain the terminal degree, Dr. Sluss taught biology courses at Jefferson Community College while working for her PhD. Now at KSU she is teaching both major and non-major courses such as Ecology and Life Science courses. She was supporting summer program for school students. She taught a course abroad, and coordinating Biology unit.
Dr. Sluss has been active in research. She collaborated with a chemistry and physics professors at MASC and while conducting ecological studies with undergraduate students. She is enthusiastic and involved in advising our Biology students. She served in various committees both at division and unit levels. She also served in the university committees such as Faculty Senate.
As a colleague and recently got promoted to full professor in the biology unit, I believe Dr. Sluss can also hold the academic and life-pressure and work towards our student's progress. Based on her number of years of experience in teaching, research and service at this HBCU, I believe she could be a suitable candidate for the promotion. Hence I support Dr. Tamara Sluss's promotion to professor.
Thank you.
Sincerely
Thank you.
Sincerely
Narayanan Rajendran.
