A Letter of Recommendation for Dr. Tamara Sluss' Application for Promotion to The Rank of Full Professor in the Division of Mathematics and Sciences

I am delighted to write this letter of recommendation for Dr. Tamara Sluss who is a trusted teacher, scholar and students' adviser to majors in Biology in the Division of Mathematics and Sciences Program. Dr. Tamara Sluss is currently an Associate Professor in the Division of Mathematics and Sciences at Kentucky State University (KSU).

I have known Dr. Sluss since she arrived at KSU ten years ago to teach biology in the Division of Mathematics and Sciences. I have known and observed her as a teacher, researcher, students' adviser and member of several committees at the divisional, college and university levels for the entire number of years she has served here. My capacity as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and these number of years of observing and knowing her have given me the privilege to write this letter of recommendation for her promotion to the rank of Full Professor.

Her Dossier presents evidence of her accomplishments in three major areas of teaching effectiveness, research, creative and scholarly activities and community service both at the university and the local community levels. Since she joined the KSU faculty and community, she has come to be respected by students, faculty, staff, and administrators within and outside the University in the three areas I have identified.

Dr. Sluss' curriculum show that she possesses strong level of academic preparation, depth of intellectual strength and volume of knowledge that not only distinguishes her in her area of expertise but also in other areas of the academic profession. Her student-faculty evaluations clearly demonstrate that she is a valuable asset to the program, the division and College of Arts and Sciences, and therefore, an excellent teacher. As an able grant proposal writer, she has made good contributions to the University's overall revenue generation efforts. She has grown in the teaching
