Subject: Dr. Chi Shen: Application for Promotion to the rank of Professor

Dear Dr. Lake:

The Unit Committee for Tenure and Promotion recommends that Dr. Chi Shen be promoted to the rank of Professor in the Division of Computer and Technical Science with votes 5-0 in favor of granting promotion to the rank of a Professor in the Division of Computer Science. Committee notes that dossier is very professionally prepared. She has a very collegial relationship with the rest of the members of the division.

The requirement that a faculty must have 10 years of teaching experience in order to be promoted to the rank of Professor was discussed. Dr. Shen is in her 10th year of teaching at KSU. The committee feels that by the time she will be promoted, she would have completed 10 years.

Other justifications:

Teaching:

• Excellent teaching records
• Good students evaluation and is at par with most faculty in the division
• Excellent peer evaluations of recent classroom visits
• Strong recommendations from 2 peers' classroom visitation, 3 former graduate students, 1 current graduate student, 2 division faculty, 2 deans, and 1 external faculty
