MEMORANDUM
DATE: August 25, 2017
TO: Kentucky State University Board of Regents
FROM: Debbie G. Thomas, Ph.D. Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
RE: Proposed Academic Affairs Restructuring
The proposed model of Academic Affairs Restructuring is undergirded by the established Kentucky State University creed of, In All Things Excellence and is directly guided by the extant leadership of our President, the current University Strategic Plan, the Faculty Handbook, and the Principles of Accreditation of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. After careful analysis and evaluation of the previously-existing structure, it was determined that indeed a more strategically transformative model was needed to ensure that the Office of Academic Affairs successfully advances and sustains excellence in all academic programs, disciplines, departments, and divisions.
The resulting model is the comprehensive implementation of essential a centralized and decentralized leadership infrastructure including the following critical foci:
Centralized Leadership Structure
Undergraduate Education and Faculty Affairs
Graduate Studies and Academic Specialization
Research and Sponsored Programs
Institutional Accountability and Accreditation
B. Decentralized Distributed Leadership Structure
