has been granted approval by the Kentucky Council on Post-Secondary Education (CPE). However, due to University level budgetary constraints that new KSI program has not yet been initiated. Once it is implemented, that program developed by Dr. Ulrich could grow rapidly. There are not yet any other Master of Gerontology programs offered in the mid-western United States.
Dr. Ulrich also has devoted considerable effort to his professional development while serving here at Kentucky State. Leading the Bachelor of Social Work re-accreditation self-study process improved his professional knowledge. Additionally, while serving KSU he has made two presentations to professional bodies outside of the university and has participated in four different Social Work professional conferences and/or workshops.
The Committee reviewed Dr. Ulrich's record of scholarship. While the Committee recognizes that Stephen Ulrich's record of scholarship can be enhanced in the future, its members are simultaneously very impressed by his departmental level service efforts. He has brought a program that was near extinction in 2009 to success. Dr. Ulrich has enabled the Social Work Program to become re-accredited. And, through effective teaching and advising, Dr. Ulrich has personally helped many students progress successfully to graduation.
Based on its evaluation of Dr. Stephen Ulrich's teaching, professional development, scholarship, and service, this Unit Promotion and Tenure Committee voted 4-0 (four to zero) in favor of his being granted both tenure and promotion to rank of Associate Professor.
Sincerely;
Christopher Daniel
