departmental and university-wide committees; he has advised English majors, LINKS mentees, and student groups like the Creative Writing Club. Additionally, he is representing the university as a member of our SACS/COC Accreditation Team. Having served with him on three committees, I have personally observed how Dr. Moffett respectfully engages his colleagues in discussion of agenda items, and how he productively yet thoughtfully moves the affairs of the university forward, addressing whatever committee business is at hand. He is a significant asset to committee work at any level.
Finally, regarding the criterion of scholarship, Dr. Moffett excels. His CV lists his numerous peer-reviewed publications in the field – enough, really, for promotion to Full Professor: he has published book-length monographs, journal articles, book chapters, book reviews and given numerous conference presentations. Additionally, he is a peer editor for Explicator, a nationally known and highly respected academic literary journal; and he served for several years as editor of the important regional academic journal Kentucky Philological Review. His analytical essays are careful, insightful and a pleasure to read. His scholarship serves his teaching well: with care and attention, he helps our English Majors find their own voices and hone the craft of writing.
Thus, in all three areas, Dr. Moffett's hard work and dedication amply demonstrate that he is deserving of tenure. His meritorious professional experience at Kentucky Wesleyan College and Northern Kentucky University, in addition to his two years of service here at KSU, make him eligible for early tenure. I will conclude by stating the obvious: he's a keeper, and we shouldn't let him get away. If I may provide further information or documentation in support of Dr. Moffett's application for tenure, please contact me.
Sincerely,
