Assistant Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion/ Senior Advisor to Academic Affairs and Presidential Liaison Kentucky State University (KSU)
Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to: Serving as a special assistant to the Provost, developing and coordinating Academic Affairs’ portion of KSU’s Strategic Plan and monitoring implementation, overseeing Academic Affairs’ website overhaul, coordinating fall and spring Commencement, Honors Convocation, and Faculty and Staff Institute, serving on the Academic Appeals Committee, serving as Chairperson for the Distinguished Professor appointment and election process, serving as a liaison to the President’s Office for duties as assigned, and drafting the quarterly Board report. The majority of my job responsibilities called for me to interact with faculty or administration. Chief Diversity Officer roles include: Insuring institutional compliance of the Council on Postsecondary Education’s (CPE) diversity and inclusion policies, write annual reports, develop diversity and inclusion initiatives, monitor faculty, staff and student diversity, serve on the CPE’s Committee on Equal Opportunity, coordinate and serve as the Chairperson of the Campus Environment Team, write the institution’s annual CPE-mandated Diversity Plan Self-Study and Campus Environment Report, meet quarterly with the offices of Human Resources, Admissions, and the Deans to address and develop strategies for increasing student, staff and faculty diversity, and establishing outreach with high schools in the region for recruitment of diverse populations. The areas of Dual Enrollment and Adult Education are also my direct reports. The percentage of dual enrolled high school students who have enrolled after graduation as full time students at KSU has increased under my leadership.
