KSU, as a result of its size, has reduced its middle management levels. There is no longer a need for Academic Deans of Colleges. Where appropriate, a reduction in duplication of services for program leadership among the chairs and coordinators has been eliminated. Chairs will be changed from twelve-month appointments to nine-month appointments. Coordinators will be reduced to align with accreditation standards. The University currently has coordinators beyond the limits of accreditation regulations. These coordinators have been eliminated. It is required by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) that coordinators are provided for each academic program and that they possess the credentials in the area of their appointment. Over the years, KSU has expanded the provision of coordinators to programmatic components such as composition coordinator and writing coordinator. These positions will be eliminated with responsibility going back to faculty as a component of their duties.
