The following observation was made concerning specific programs during the program review process.
Data on graduates is limited in most programs. Education, nursing, math, science, and music were strongest in the area of graduate follow-up. However, each program uses its own data collection methodology. There is no systematic collection process in place.
Programs with low enrollments and programs where no courses are being offered, such as African-American studies, do not appear to have been officially closed.
Program reviews showed little data regarding where graduates were employed. Employer feedback, when the employer was identified, was limited. Additionally, data on how many students entered graduate school was limited. The exceptions were the education, nursing, math, science, and music programs.
Grantsmanship was strongest in the areas of the sciences, agriculture, aquaculture, and education.
Enrollment was strongest in psychology, business, and criminal justice. The highest credit hour production and degrees were in psychology, business, and liberal studies.
The weakest areas in the entire process were the lack of data and conflicting data. While Institutional Research reported one set of data, relevant data from institutional documents was conflicting.
There are opportunities for the University relative to its current financial posture in the program review results. The following programs have fewer than ten students enrolled with declared majors:
