Over the years, we have established a relationship with your company and we now ask and need your help as we approach an unprecedented time for Kentucky State University. We are facing a significant deficit for this fiscal year that requires review of all expenditures. It is imperative that cost cutting measures be implemented at Kentucky State University.
We are already in the process of taking substantial steps internally, however, they are not enough to offset the challenges we face. We are targeting a 10% cut to all commodities across the board and ask for your support of our efforts. By doing this, we will be able to defer or avoid more severe actions that may further limit business opportunities for the vendor community. Therefore, we are asking you to submit cost reductions that will help us meet our goal. This can be achieved by reduction in cost of supplies, rate for services, and/or frequency of services.
Proposals and/or responses will be evaluated on a case basis to determine how they compare with what could be achieved in the open market. Prior to considering and implementing more severe measures, the University is giving its current vendors an opportunity to submit cost reduction proposals by April 15, 2015.
