Dear Dr. Young:
This letter is formal notification of the action taken by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) at its meeting in September 2019. The Board of Commissioners granted continuing accreditation with conditions for two years to the associate nursing program, as the program is in non-compliance with Standard 6 Outcomes, and requested that a Follow-Up Report be submitted by March 15, 2021. If the Board grants continuing accreditation following the review of the Follow-Up Report, the next evaluation visit will be scheduled for Spring 2027.
Deliberations centered on the materials available to the Board from this accreditation review process and the recommendation for accreditation proposed by the peer evaluators on the site visit team and the Evaluation Review Panel.
The Board identified the following:
Areas of Strength
Standard 2 Faculty and Staff, Criterion 2.7
The Coordinator – Academic Support, Learning, Design, and Technology is a unique position held by a highly qualified individual who adds to the quality of the nursing education unit.
Evidence of Non-Compliance
Standard 6 Outcomes, Criteria 6.1 and 6.2
There is a lack of evidence that there is ongoing assessment of the extent to which students attain the end-of-program student learning outcomes.
There is a lack of evidence that assessment data are consistently analyzed and used in program decision-making for the maintenance and improvement of students' attainment of the end-of-program student learning outcomes.
There is a lack of evidence that the expected level of achievement for first-time test-takers during the same 12-month period on the licensure examination has been met.
