Two new licensed mental health counselors have been hired and will be located in Rosenwald, with an additional counselor/interventionist joining the team before the close of November.
Dr. Anthony Andrews, a three-time HBCU graduate (Ph.D. from North Carolina A&T) will serve as the Director of the Counseling Center and has expertise in trauma-informed engagement.
Ms. LaShonda Sims Duncan, a National Certified Counselor with 11 years of experience in private practice, brings a unique holistic approach to her work.
Over the next two months, the team will collaboratively define the comprehensive agenda for the Center. Aligned with our overall mission for the Division, the Center will be grounded in a philosophy that builds mental wellness across campus and honors strength-based student empowerment – with a heavy emphasis on peer mentorship and leadership. It is also our goal to ensure that a mental health counselor will be available 24/7 for crisis situations.
